While Halloween isn't the most meaningful day to celebrate, it certainly is one of my favorites! Halloween is just plain fun. Who doesn't love to be a kid again, even if it's just for one night? This year we opted to not do themed costumes. Instead everyone picked what they'd like to be. We have a mermaid, a flower, The Lorax, and a Ninjago Ninja. I can't wait!
We not only have Halloween night to prepare for, but also a "Trunk-or-Treat" at church so candy (and chocolate especially) was in order. After all, while I wait for trick or treaters to stop by, I need something to snack on! ;) So we headed to Walmart and picked up a huge bag of Mars Halloween candy. And hey, they even have a $1 coupon that you can use if you visit the site.
We are also planning on making more Glow Stick lanterns and Walmart had them for a great deal too. If you make some, be sure to get the full size ones.
I love these bags of individual Mars Halloween candy that are just the right size for snacking and make handing out to trick or treaters easier. Parents can feel good about that as far as Halloween safety goes. I remember my parents going through my treat bags and making sure everything was wrapped and sealed before we ate any candy.
One of my favorite after Halloween treats is Snicker's Salad. Have you ever had it before? If not, you need to. Raid your after Halloween candy and pull out all of the Snickers bars. Dice them up and toss with diced granny smith apples and cool whip. That's it! The tartness from the apples, the caramel from the Snickers, and the chocolate make it such a great combination...and maybe a bit healthier than other treat? Maybe.
Mmm...now lets see if I can keep out of it for another week!
